The third Caspian Forum, named as “Defining the Caspian”, convened in Istanbul, on 5 December. The first Caspian Forum was held in December of the year 2012 and it aims at research of economical, political and strategic potential of the Caspian region. Basic issue of the current forum was power industry and transport corridors of the region. The Forum was attended by representatives of 35 countries.
In scope of the Forum the awarding ceremony was held and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars new railroad line was designated as the best project of the year. During the discussion of the project, its strategic significance in linking Europe and Asia was highlighted.
The award was granted to the representatives of the three countries – Natia Mikeladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Ziya Mammadov, Minister of Transportation of Azerbaijan and Binali Yildirim, Minister of Transport of Turkey. Mr. Oleg Bichiashvili, the Director of Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway LLC also attended the Forum.
